Acceptable use policy

Official rules for using Lynet student network.

1. General

  1. By connecting to and using the student network, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.

2. Who may use the connection?

  1. The person leasing the apartment/dorm may use the internet connection. This person is responsible for all use of the internet connection.
  2. Guests in the apartment/dorm may also use the internet connection.
  3. You are not allowed to share the internet connection to users outside the apartment/dorm. For example by setting up a wireless router without encryption.

3. Responsibility

You are not allowed to use the internet connection to:

  1. Illegaly download copyrighted material.
  2. Gain unauthorized access to computers or systems on the internet, or try to do so.
  3. Gain unauthorized access to computers or systems in the student network, or try to do so.
  4. Any other activities that can cause harm or damage to computers or systems on the internet or the sudent network.
  5. Commercial activites such as hosting a webserver.

4. Responsibility

  1. Lynet Internett AS holds no responsibility for activities on the student network, including:
    • Direct and indirect damage, loss, or responsibility brought upon the user by others whilst connected to the network.
    • Direct and indirect damage, loss, or responsibility the user may inflict upon a third party.
    • Direct and indirect damage, loss, or responsibility caused upon him/herself or others in the event of the student network not functioning.
    • Direct and indirect damage, loss, or responsibility occurring as a result of the user being disconnected due to a violation of the acceptable use policy.
